The Water Horse: Legend Of The Deep

Sarah Cox

The Academy Award®-winning producer and special-effects team behind The Lord of the Rings join with Revolution Studios, Walden Media (The Chronicles of Narnia) and Beacon Pictures bring this magical motion picture to the screen.

Starring Emily Watson, Alex Etel, Ben Chaplin, David Morrissey, and Brian Cox The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep is a tale of a lonely young Scottish boy named Angus MacMorrow who yearns for the return of his father from the war.  The story begins when Angus takes home a mysterious, enchanted object he finds on the beach. He soon realizes that it is a magical egg, and finds himself raising an amazing creature: the mythical “water horse” of Scottish lore. As he tries to hide his friend, who he names Cruose, form a bond and friendship, Angus begins a journey of discovery, protecting a secret that gives birth to a legend.

Based on the book The Water Horse by Dick King-Smith, the Screenplay, by Robert Nelson Jacobs, was directed by Jay Russell.
The special effects for the film were created by Weta Digital and Weta Workshop, who also provided the special and visual effects for Lord of the Rings and King Kong.  Walden Media previously worked with Weta Workshop to develop the fantastical creatures in The Chronicles of Narnia.

The Water Horse: Legend Of The Deep, Cert: PG, running time: 112mins, will be released in the UK on Friday 8 February 2008. Info: http://www.thewaterhorse-movie.co.uk
