JACK MAPANJE
Leicester Libraries and Leicester Poetry Society present Jack Mapanje. Originally from Malawi, Jack Mapanje was a teacher and lecturer before publishing his first collection of poetry, ‘Of Chameleons and Gods’. In 1985, the collection was withdrawn from bookshops and libraries in Malawi and in 1987 he was imprisoned without trial by the Malawian government and held until 1991.
